Creativity. Imagination. Play.

What's the point in it?

It's vital, no crucial for child development. When children become fascinated by something, they become engrossed, almost lost in it, they're developing pathways within their brain. These pathways are not only vital for their learning but also for their well-being.

Yet there are so many different opportunities beyond the National school offer of the National curriculum. Many are Arts based whereas others lean towards technology and of course there are sports clubs. Which extra-curricular activity would best suit your child?

Thankfully, children are such natural beings; no doubt they'll have shown you since birth that they have specific interests. Start here. Look into what's available locally then discuss the idea with them. I do favour the Arts, however I've supported others too when my children were young. The Arts develop a love of music, dance, theatre and literature which is such a wonderfully rich and diverse area. There have been many studies of children who study music; as they begin to read music, their brains become attuned to pattern which has correlated with high proficiency in mathematics. Asides to this, children who attend Arts clubs are filled to the very top with joy and they have a more resilient approach to life and their learning.

By encouraging our children to be curious and creative, it sparks their imagination and they begin to realise their own potential which is priceless. Allowing them to develop into the wonderfully creative individuals that they are is essential for them. In the short term, finding their 'mojo' for life will bolster them through the tricky waters of school life; they will have greater confidence, more motivation and increased reliance. Their brains will develop fully and have the ability to cope with the ever demanding school curriculum.

Extra-curricular clubs are a must for children. It's about them being an individual with other like-minded children having fun, developing team spirit, developing individuality and

being happy.
